Why Locals?

As many of you know, we have removed our Parish presence from Facebook. It is unfortunate that Facebook has devolved from a way of connecting with friends and family to a politically oriented organization.

After what I thought was a fairly innocuous post about the Dobbs decision, and its effect on the abortion industry, Facebook decided that our page was too dangerous to allow people to find. I was told that even going in and specifically searching for Saint Mary’s ACC in Denver, Colorado, that no pages would be displayed.

I chose Locals as a way to reach out to the Parish, in addition to our email list and our website. So far, at least, there have been no issues that would affect our outreach.

Clearly, Locals doesn’t have the reach that Facebook does. But it will allow us to post items of interest to the Parish and to the public.

It is my hope that between the website, email, and the Locals account we will still have an effective outreach to our community.
