Synod Update
I wanted to update the Parish on the Diocesan Synod that took place earlier this month. I will break this into three parts to keep each portion relatively short.
As many of you know, our brother in Christ, Andrew Harrah, was ordained as a Deacon at the Pontifical Mass. The Commission on Ministry, the Standing Committee, and those who have worked closely with him at the St. Thomas Mission in Fullerton headed by Fr. Craik, are anticipating that he will do quite well. He will be assigned as Curate for Fr. Dart, who is a Priest in the Anglican Province of Christ the King in Phoenix. It is anticipated he will work there for one year.
The ordinary work of the Synod , similar to our Parish annual meeting, approved budgets, voted for committee memberships, and in all it went very smoothly. Each Parish gave a report on their existing work. I will talk further about my Parish report, and some of the work I would like to see our Parish engaged in over the next several years. The Bishop also gave his address to the Synod, and preached at the Pontifical Mass. His focus was on ministry. There are several interesting developments that we will explore further.
